The Coral Island Afternoon Tour is a half-day speedboat trip from Chalong Pier, Phuket, to Koh Hey: pickup from 10.00, a 15-minute crossing at 12.15, more than three hours of white sand and snorkeling, and you are back at your hotel before dinner. It is the island trip that does not eat your holiday — arranged by our TAT-licensed family tour shop at Chalong Circle.

Why do we call this “the half day that doesn’t eat your holiday”?
Most Phuket island tours own your whole day: dawn pickup, hours of boat, home at dusk. Coral Island sits only ten kilometers south of Phuket — 15 minutes by speedboat from Chalong — so this trip lets you sleep in, have a slow breakfast, even squeeze in a massage, and still spend the entire afternoon on a genuine tropical island. Guests tell us it is the perfect arrival-day or departure-eve trip, and the one they book when the hotel pool has started to feel small.
How does the afternoon run?
- 10.00–12.00: Hotel pickup and transfer to Chalong Pier.
- 12.15–12.30: Speedboat departure — the crossing takes about 15 minutes.
- 12.45–16.00: Coral Island: swim, snorkel over the reefs, feed the tropical fish, or simply lie on the beach.
- 16.00–16.15: Return to Chalong Pier and transfer to your hotel.
Included: round-trip hotel transfer from the main areas, injury insurance, mask, snorkel and life jacket, beach chair, and an English-speaking guide. Times are a guideline and flex slightly with tide and traffic. Operator’s rule: no pregnant women, children under 1, or guests over 70.
What is the island actually like?
Two long stretches of powder-white sand, water clear enough to watch fish swim around your ankles, and a reef ring close to shore. The main beach has chairs, shade and facilities; a short walk over the island’s hill drops you into a small, quiet cove that most half-day visitors never bother to find — go there if you want the desert-island photo without anyone else in it.
Is this tour right for you?
Ideal for late risers, families with young children (the crossing is short enough that nobody melts down), cruise passengers with limited hours, and anyone easing into island life before committing to a big boat day. If you want parasailing, scuba or sea walking with your afternoon, book the afternoon tour with sea activities instead. If beach time is the whole point, the full day version doubles your hours and adds lunch.
What should you bring?
Swimwear worn under your clothes, towel, sunscreen (the 13.00–15.00 sun is the strongest of the day — reapply), sunglasses, and a dry bag for your phone. Eat lunch before pickup or grab something on the island; this tour does not include a meal. A little cash covers drinks and fish food.
Honest advice from our counter in Chalong
Afternoons are when Coral Island’s day-trip crowds start thinning — combo tours leave around 15.00–16.00, so your last hour on the beach is noticeably quieter than midday. And because the route is short and sheltered, this is the trip we can usually still run when weather cancels the long crossings. Frequently asked questions
How much time do you actually spend on the island?
A little over three hours, roughly 12.45 to 16.00 — plenty for swimming, snorkeling and a proper lie-down on the sand.
Is lunch included in the afternoon tour?
No. Eat before pickup or buy food and drinks on the island. Snorkeling gear, beach chair, transfers, insurance and guide are all included.
Is this trip good for young children?
Yes — the 15-minute crossing and calm, shallow water off the main beach make it one of the most toddler-friendly boat trips in Phuket. Children under 1 cannot join under the operator’s rules.
Can I do this tour on my last day in Phuket?
Many guests do it the day before flying out, since you are back at your hotel around 16.30. For a same-day evening flight, check timings with us on WhatsApp first.
