What is parasailing and what is it like?

You are strapped into a harness attached to a large parachute, and as the speedboat accelerates you rise smoothly off the beach
or a pontoon into the air, floating high above the water while the boat tows you along. The flight lasts only a few minutes but the
view — the beach, the islands, the turquoise water below — is unforgettable, and it is far calmer up there than it looks
from the ground. You are winched back down gently to the same platform.

How safe is it, and how do you fly safely?

We will be straightforward, because parasailing is a case where the operator matters more than the price. On the beaches you will
sometimes see quick solo launches with minimal briefing; we prefer operators who fly tandem (two people with a trained
staff member’s harness setup) where appropriate, use good equipment, brief you properly and check the wind. Our advice:
insist on a life jacket, listen to the launch and landing instructions (mostly “sit back and keep your legs up for landing”), and
never fly in strong or gusty wind — a reputable operator simply won’t. When you book through us, you get operators we trust

Tandem or solo — and who should not go?

Tandem flights let nervous first-timers, couples and parents-with-a-child fly together, which most guests prefer. Solo is quieter
and higher-feeling. Be honest with yourself about who this is not for: it is generally not suitable if you are pregnant,
have serious heart or back conditions, recent surgery, or a strong fear of heights, and operators set sensible weight ranges for the
canopy. If any of that applies, tell us and we will advise or suggest an alternative like a jet ski.

When to go and what to bring?

Mornings are usually calmer and safer for flying, and the dry season (November to April) tends to give the steadiest conditions.
Bring reef-safe sunscreen, sunglasses with a strap (or leave them off), and secure any phone — things dropped from height are
gone. Wear swimwear or light clothes in case of a splash landing. Flights are weather-dependent, so we stay flexible and never push
you up in unsafe wind.

What actually happens from launch to landing?

It is calmer and simpler than it looks. Staff clip you into a harness attached to the parachute; the boat takes up the slack, and as
it accelerates you lift smoothly into the air — often straight from a pontoon or the back of the boat, so you may not even get wet.
Up top it is quiet and surprisingly still, with a slow, floating feeling and a huge view over the islands. After a few minutes the crew
winch you gently back down to the same platform. The only thing you do is enjoy it and follow the simple landing cue — lean back,
lift your legs — which they will have briefed before you go up.
