The Kahung Beach (Coral Island) tour by Nikorn Marine is a speedboat trip from Chalong Pier, Phuket, to Koh Hey — the “Fun Island” — available as a full day (depart 09.00, return 15.15) or a half day afternoon (depart 12.15, return 16.15). It is Phuket’s sea-sports island: parasailing, banana boat, sea walker and scuba all off one beach, arranged by our licensed family agency at Chalong Circle.

Why do locals call Koh Hey the “Fun Island”?
Coral Island earned the nickname because everything happens on one long white-sand beach: you can snorkel from shore, feed hornbills, ride a banana boat, walk on the seabed in a helmet, parasail over the bay and still be back on your beach chair before your drink warms up. No other island this close to Phuket packs in as many activities — and “this close” means a genuine 15-minute speedboat hop from Chalong.
Full day or half day — which should you pick?
This is the question we answer most across our counter, so here is the honest version. Take the full day if sea sports are the point: you arrive before the crowds, activity queues are shortest before noon, and lunch at Kahung Restaurant breaks the day nicely. Take the half day if you want a lazy morning or you are squeezing an island into your last day — you still get more than three hours of beach.
Full day itinerary
- 08.30: Meet the guide at Nikorn Marine’s office, Chalong Pier.
- 09.00: Depart for Kahung Beach. Snorkel, swim, feed hornbills, or add sea sports — parasailing, banana boat, scuba, sea walker, clear kayak (extra charge).
- 12.00: Thai lunch at Kahung Restaurant.
- 15.00: Depart Coral Island; arrive Chalong Pier around 15.15.
Half day (afternoon) itinerary
- 10.30–12.00: Hotel pickup and transfer to Chalong Pier.
- 12.15–12.30: Depart — the crossing takes only about 15 minutes.
- 12.45–16.00: Beach time: swim, sunbathe, snorkel from shore, or add sea activities (extra charge).
- 16.00–16.15: Return to Chalong Pier and transfer to your hotel.
Is this tour right for you?
Perfect for families and groups with mixed interests — the active ones do sea sports while the rest hold down the beach chairs. The short, sheltered crossing also makes it one of the easiest boat trips for nervous boaters. Note the operator’s rule: not recommended for pregnant women, guests over 65 or children under 1.
If you want two islands rather than one, upgrade to the Racha and Kahung Beach combination. Prefer an evening on the water? The same island hosts a night fishing and squid fishing trip.
What should you bring?
Swimwear under your clothes, towel, sunscreen, hat, and a dry bag for phone and cash — you will want cash or a chat with the beach staff for sea sports, which are paid on the island. The company asks guests not to bring valuables, and with a boat ride this short there is no reason to.
Honest advice from our counter in Chalong
Decide your must-do activity before you land and book it with the beach crew immediately — parasailing and sea walker slots go fastest after lunch. Weather can reshuffle the program on any given day, so keep plans loose. Frequently asked questions
How far is Coral Island from Phuket?
About 15 minutes by speedboat from Chalong Pier — the shortest island crossing you can make from Phuket, which is why it works even as a half-day trip.
Which sea activities are available and are they included?
Parasailing, banana boat, scuba diving, sea walker, clear kayak and paddle board are available at Kahung Beach as optional extras paid on the island. Snorkeling gear and (on the full day) lunch are included.
Should I book the full day or the half day?
Full day if you want sea sports with the shortest queues and a proper lunch; half day if you prefer a slow morning and just want beach hours. Both use the same beach and boats.

The crossing is short and mostly sheltered, so even sensitive travelers usually manage it easily. It is one of the calmest speedboat routes from Phuket.
