Bamboo Rafting at Bangkeaw is a full-day adventure combo in the Phang Nga valley north of Phuket, arranged by our licensed Chalong agency. The day builds around a gentle bamboo-raft float and chains together a monkey-temple stop, elephant activities, a Thai lunch, a waterfall and — depending on the package you pick — ATV riding or 5 km of white water rafting. Pick-up is around 07:30 and you’re back near 17:00.

Why does one valley pack so much into a single day?
Here’s what guests don’t realise until we explain it at the counter: the adventure camps north of Phuket, around Phang Nga and Bangkeaw, sit clustered in the same river valley. That’s the whole trick behind a combo day. Instead of driving all over the island, you make one journey up, and the bamboo rafting, elephants, ATV trails, waterfall and monkey temple are all within a short hop of each other. You get five or six experiences in a day without five or six taxi rides.
That’s also why it’s such good value for time. A family can do a calm bamboo float, meet elephants, splash under a waterfall and still be back for dinner. We help you pick the package that fits your group’s energy rather than cramming in everything for the sake of it.
Bamboo rafting or white water rafting — what’s the difference?
People mix these up all the time, so let’s be clear. Bamboo rafting is the calm one: you drift down a gentle stretch of river on a long bamboo raft, often poled by a guide, taking in the jungle and the quiet. It’s scenic, low-effort and great with young children or grandparents. White water rafting is the adrenaline version — an inflatable boat through Level II–III rapids over about 5 km, with paddling and splashing. One is a relaxing float; the other is a workout. The B3 package combines both, so you get the calm and the thrill in one day.
What’s in each package?
All three start with hotel pick-up around 07:30, a stop at Suwankuha (the monkey cave temple), bamboo rafting, elephant trekking and elephant bathing, a Thai lunch with fresh fruit, tea and coffee, plus a turtle stop and a waterfall, returning around 17:00. The difference is the extra:
- B1 — the core day: bamboo rafting, elephants, lunch, turtle and waterfall.
- B2 — adds a 30-minute ATV ride through the jungle.
- B3 — adds 5 km of white water rafting for the thrill-seekers.
A quick honest note on the elephants: the bathing is a hands-on, no-riding activity, while the “trekking” element is a short ride. If you’d prefer no riding at all, tell us and we’ll talk through the options before you book — we book these as a real family shop and we’re happy to be straight with you.
Who is this day for?
It suits families and groups who want variety in one outing, and anyone who likes the idea of a gentle river float rather than rapids. If you specifically want hard adrenaline, go for B2 or B3. It’s a long day with a drive each way, so factor that in for very young children.
What should you bring?
You’ll get wet, so wear a swimsuit under quick-dry clothes and strap-on sandals or old shoes, and bring a dry change and a towel for the drive home. Add sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat and a waterproof pouch for your phone.

Frequently asked questions
Is bamboo rafting the same as white water rafting?
No. Bamboo rafting is a calm, scenic float on a bamboo raft. White water rafting is an inflatable-boat run through rapids. The B3 package includes both.
Which package should I choose?
B1 for the relaxed core day, B2 to add a 30-minute ATV ride, B3 to add 5 km of white water. Tell us your group and we’ll recommend the right fit.
Is it suitable for young children and older travellers?
The bamboo float and elephants suit most ages. ATV and white water have age limits, so message us with everyone’s ages and we’ll advise honestly.
Can I skip the elephant riding part?
Yes. The bathing is no-riding; the trek is a short ride you can opt out of. Tell us your preference and we’ll arrange it.
How much does it cost?
Prices change with the season and the package, so we don’t publish them. Message us on WhatsApp for today’s price and honest advice.
