The James Bond Island Tour by Longtail Boat is a full-day trip from Phuket (minibus pickup 08:30–10:00, return 17:30–18:30) into Phang Nga Bay National Park on a traditional sun-roofed longtail: Monkey Cave temple, set lunch in the Muslim fishing village of Koh Panyee, guided sea-cave canoeing at Talu Island, and James Bond Island itself — arranged by Chang Thai Tour & Travel, a TAT-licensed family agency in Chalong.

What makes the longtail version special?

The longtail is how Thais have crossed this bay for generations, and it changes the whole feel of the day. You sit close to the water, under a sun roof, moving at a pace where the karst cliffs actually loom instead of blur. Because Phang Nga Bay is sheltered — no ocean swell, just flat green water between limestone towers — the ride is smooth in a way that surprises people who expect a small boat to be bouncy. What does the day look like?

Times and order are approximate — the guide adjusts for tides and temple crowds.

• 08:30–10:00 — Minibus pickup from your hotel and drive to the pier in Phang Nga province.
• Visit Monkey Cave (Suwankuha Temple) — a cave shrine with a reclining Buddha and a troop of cheeky macaques. Hold your sunglasses.
• Board the longtail for sightseeing through Phang Nga Bay National Park.
• Set lunch in the Muslim fishing village on Koh Panyee — a whole village on stilts. Take the walk past the mosque and floating football pitch after eating; it is the most honest look at bay life you will get anywhere.
• Canoe through the nature and sea caves at Talu Island with experienced paddlers guiding each canoe.
• Visit James Bond Island — Khao Phing Kan and the Ko Tapu needle from The Man with the Golden Gun.
• Return to the pier and drive back; 17:30–18:30 arrive at your hotel.

What’s included — and what isn’t?

Included: round-trip hotel transfer from the free pickup zone, English-speaking guide, canoeing gear with an experienced paddler, set lunch, life jacket, pier shuttle and injury insurance.

Not included: the Ao Phang Nga National Park fee (cash, paid on the day) and transfers from a few outer hotel zones. What should you bring?

Modest clothing for the temple and village (shoulders and knees covered is polite), sunscreen, hat, a dry bag for the canoe, and small cash for the park fee. Keep phones and snacks zipped away at Monkey Cave — the macaques are quick.

Is a longtail boat safe in Phang Nga Bay?

Yes. The bay is sheltered from open-sea swell, life jackets are provided, and longtails have worked these waters for generations. The ride is calm and close to the scenery.

Does this tour include swimming or beach time?

No — it is a sightseeing and culture day: temple, village lunch, canoeing and James Bond Island. If you want a swim stop, ask us about the speedboat or cruise-boat versions.

Do I paddle the canoe myself at Talu Island?

No, an experienced paddler guides each canoe through the sea caves, so children and non-swimmers join easily.
