Many independent travelers who want to explore this quieter stretch of the island choose renting a scooter, which makes it easy to move along the coast at your own pace and reach the beach’s less-visited sections.
Best Time to Visit
The dry season, roughly November to April, generally brings calmer seas and more comfortable swimming conditions at Maikhao. This window also overlaps with part of the sea turtle nesting season, giving visitors a chance to see the beach in its quieter, more protected state. The monsoon months can bring rougher water and stronger currents, so extra caution is advised for swimmers during that period.
