James Bond Island Tour by Cruise Boat

James Bond Island Tour by Cruise Boat

The James Bond Island Tour by Cruise Boat is a relaxed full-day trip from Ao Po pier, Phuket (hotel pickup 07:00–07:30, return 15:30–16:00) on a comfortable big boat: canoeing into Panak Island’s Ice Cream Cave and around Hong Island’s lagoon, buffet lunch on board, a longtail transfer to James Bond Island itself, and a swim at Naka Island — arranged by Chang Thai Tour & Travel, TAT-licensed in Chalong.

Why see Phang Nga Bay from a cruise boat?

Phang Nga Bay rewards slowness. This is a drowned mountain range — limestone peaks rising from shallow, sheltered water — and from the open deck of a cruise boat you watch it unfold at walking pace: cliffs, sea eagles, and one of Thailand’s largest mangrove forests sliding past while you drink your coffee. The bay’s calm water means the big hull barely moves; of everything we sell, this is the trip we suggest first to guests who dread boats.

The mangroves deserve a special word. They are the bay’s nursery — young fish, crabs and shellfish grow up among the roots, which is why the fishing village of Koh Panyee could exist here at all. When you canoe under the root arches at Panak and Hong, you are paddling through the engine room of the whole ecosystem. Ask your paddler what to look for; the guides here grew up reading this water.

What does the day look like?

Times and order are approximate — the captain works around the day’s tides.

  • 07:00–07:30 — Pickup from your hotel.
  • 09:00 — Depart Ao Po pier for Panak Island: canoe into the Ice Cream Cave, the most important cave in Phang Nga Bay, with big stalactites, stalagmites and bats overhead. Then Hong Island, canoeing around its lagoon beneath the famous limestone walls.
  • 11:30 — Buffet lunch on board while cruising, then the visit to James Bond Island — a short longtail boat hop takes you from the cruise boat to the island itself.
  • 14:00 — Swimming and relaxing at Naka Island.
  • 15:30–16:00 — Return to Ao Po pier and transfer back to your hotel.

What’s included — and what isn’t?

Included: round-trip hotel transfer from the free pickup zone, injury insurance, pier entry fee, pier shuttle, canoeing with a professional paddler, buffet lunch, life jacket and an English-speaking guide.

Not included: the Ao Phang Nga National Park fee, paid in cash on the day, and transfers from hotels outside the free zone. Zones and fees shift from season to season, so send us your hotel name on WhatsApp and we will confirm your exact pickup and the current park fee before you commit. Thai citizens pay a lower park rate — bring Thai ID.

Is this tour right for you?

Choose the cruise boat if you want comfort, shade, space to move, and the earliest return of our James Bond options — you are back by 16:00 with the evening free. Guests tell us it is the easiest bay day for older parents and young kids alike. It is not the pick if you want the stilt-village lunch at Koh Panyee (lunch here is on board) or an adrenaline ride — for those, see the James Bond Island speedboat tour or the longtail boat version.

Every route is on our James Bond Island tours page. We are a family-run shop near Chalong Circle — come say hello, or read why guests choose us over booking apps in our Klook vs local agency comparison.

What should you bring?

Swimwear, towel, sunscreen, hat and a dry bag for the canoe sessions — cave ceilings drip even in dry season. Shoes you can slip off quickly help for the longtail hop to James Bond Island. And carry small cash for the national park fee.

Frequently asked questions

How do we get onto James Bond Island from the cruise boat?

The big boat anchors nearby and a short longtail boat transfer carries you to the island — a fun taste of the traditional boat without the long ride.

Is this tour good for people who get seasick?

It is our top recommendation for them. Phang Nga Bay is sheltered, and the large cruise hull is the steadiest platform on it.

Where is lunch served?

On board — a buffet served while the boat cruises between stops. This route does not stop at Koh Panyee village for lunch.

What is included in the price?

Hotel transfer from the free zone, insurance, pier fees and shuttle, guided canoeing, buffet lunch, life jackets and an English-speaking guide. The national park fee is paid separately in cash.
